Trong tháng 4, cố vấn khoa học của VVOB, ông Peter Van Gils đã tới Việt Nam để làm việc theo kế hoạch được xây dựng chi tiết từ tháng 3. Trong tuần đầu tiên, ông Peter cùng với ông Bart đã tới Campuchia và làm việc với dự án Open Resource Centre có địa điểm tại trường Bồi dưỡng giáo viên(truy cập http://pttcsrp.com/coop_eng.htm để biết thêm chi tiết).Trong tuần làm việc thứ hai, ông Peter cùng với các thành viên của tổ dự án IMIH đã tổ chức một buổi tập huấn về các ứng dụng về giáo dục của web2.0. Các ứng dụng trực tuyến này là các giải pháp hữu hiệu giúp IMIH giải quyết các thách thức mà dự án gặp phải trong quá trình hoạt động, bao gồm vấn đề về sử dụng bất hợp pháp các phần mềm, phần mềm mở…Với mục đích trên, Peter và IMIH đã tạo nên trang web http://www.web20atschool.net và các tài liệu khác(đã có tiếng Việt do Anh Bùi Mạnh Hà, thành viên của dự án IMIH dịch). In March the visit of the coordination advisor, Peter Van Gils, was organised and a plan/programme was put together. The first week of April Peter and Bart went to Cambodia to visit the Open Resource Centre project located in the Provincial Teacher Training College. The second week of April Peter facilitated a workshop together with the IMIH team on educational tools on Web 2.0. These online tools are a perfect solution for some challenges IMIH faces in Vietnam, including the use of illegal software, open software etc. For this purpose a website was set up (http://www.web20atschool.net) and learning materials were designed. The administrative software that was especially designed for the HRCTEM to collect student data was delivered and tested in October 2006. The company gave a presentation to the IMIH project team and a workshop was given to 2 administrative members of HRCTEM. Unfortunately the system got affected by a virus and needs to be reinstalled- all data are lost and have to be put back.On the meeting with the principals (7 November) of the IMIH pilot schools it was confirmed that it is very difficult to use software for administration (E.g. SchoolNet) that is conform with regulations of the DOET since it changes from year to year. Updating administrative software is expensive. For day to day management systems Excel is successfully being used. Software of DOET is mainly used to report to the Government. IMIH collected samples of school management tools where ICT is used effectively. All these samples will be gathered on a CDROM and distributed in 2007. This effort is in line with the Governments’ ICT guidelines for 2006/2007.

Still, in most pilot schools ICT is being used in management and administration in a very creative way, from the making of posters or leaflets explaining the schools’ rules and regulations to storing and retrieving student and teacher data, time schedules etc. More specifically, ICT is mostly used for student-monitoring, learning result software, entries- and final exam data monitoring software and finance/staff management software. Thus, ICT has become an indispensable tool in management and administration in all IMIH pilot schools. Unfortunately, some software especially designed for the IMIH schools proved to be expensive and ineffective.
